Beach, Burgers, Gullah Gal & Fireworks!

Wednesday:

On Wednesday, we slept in, spent time at the beach, and then went out to the CharBar Grill to eat and hear a local 16-year-old girl sing. She had just cut a CD, and she had all her friends there. It was a good time. Earlier in the day, it was enjoyable time just spending time jumping into the waves and then resting on the sandy beach. We got sand in just about every part of our our bodies, but we had a great time.

Thursday:

We at a brunch at Stacks before going to Shelter Cove and the Gullah Gal for some Atlantic Coast fishing. When Captain Steve set anchor in the Atlantic, we got into some 5 foot waves while we fished. We had to learn quickly how to make sure we had 3 points of contact with the boat at all times so we wouldn't be tossed overboard. We started hitting some small shark and then caught a 20 lb, 33 inch Red Fish, only the 6th the Gullah Gal has caught all year. Captain Steve seemed pretty excited about it and even got a picture with his own camera. The fish was outside the slot of 27 inches, otherwise we'd be eating some Red Fish steaks tonight!
After a while, we started feeling the affect of the wavy motion, so we headed back inland and fished in 30 feet of water just outside Broad Creek. We caught some bigger sharks, both black tips and one bull shark. They are fun to catch and put up a pretty good fight on light tackle. Overall, the trip was definitely the adventure we had wanted. I'll be ready to go again soon!!

Tonight, we headed back to Shelter Cove for fireworks, which weren't anything spectacular, but the setting definitely was.
